Steve Pitron @ Wild Fruit
Always a favourite on the Wild Fruit dance floor. His ability to pick the right tune at the right time and mix them to perfection gains him love and affection wherever he plays. Cue the reminiscing grins when you mention his marquee-busting Wild Fruit tent set at Brighton Pride 2008.

1992 was the date, Compton’s in London’s Soho the venue and Pitron the debuting dj. From there it was onto Substation and the rest, as they say, is history. A history, claims Pitron, inspired by an eclectic mix of dj’s. “Annie Nightingale, Paul Oakenfold, Jeremy Healy, Danny Tenaglia and Janice Long all influenced me.” says Steve. “None of them were afraid to play around with styles of music and listening to all of them while I was growing up has given me a wide and varied taste in music.” And so with that good taste packed up in his record bag Steve started playing on the dj circuit and it wasn’t long before heads were raised and butts began moving to the Pitron sound. “I started by doing loads of one off parties in Southend and then pretty much every bar in the West End in London. My previous club residencies include Heaven, Substation, PSP and Salvation whilst right now I enjoy residencies for Juicy and Crash with guest sets at Later, Orange, Area and Matinee in London and, of course, Wild Fruit in Brighton!” Add some globetrotting – three Mardi Gras in Sydney and Alternative Holiday’s Parties in Italy, and Pitron’s ever impressive dj cv is complete. You’ll also need to add his production prowess – 2006 saw him re-mixing Danni Minogue’s ‘So Under Pressure’ -whilst 2007 sees him join forces with Soulcast’s Max Sanna remixing and collaborating with artists including Kelly Rowland, Seamus Haji, Bob Sinclar, Angie Stone, Sugababes and Dina Vass. Oh plus there’s the small matter of winning the ‘Best Dj’ In Boyz Magazine three years running!

And so back to that glorious 2007 Wild Fruit Tent moment. A guest dj without the attitude, with a selection of tunes that lifted an already deliriously Proud crowd even higher, Pitron reminded all those lucky enough to be there what clubbing is all about. The love of a good time, a good tune, a good day. In a business where dj’s can wax lyrical forever about the styles they play and the genres they share Pitron keeps it simple. “I play house music. If I like it, I play it.” Well we like it. Keep playing it Mr Pitron.
